Seattle homeowners ask us

Real questions from real service calls across King and Snohomish counties.

How much does furnace repair cost in Seattle?

Most furnace repairs in the Seattle metro land between $189 and $950 depending on the part — igniters and flame sensors sit at the low end, blower motors and control boards at the top. The diagnostic is credited toward the repair, so you never pay twice, and you get a flat written quote before any work starts.

Should I replace my gas furnace with a heat pump?

In most Puget Sound homes — yes, when the furnace is near end of life. Our mild winters are ideal for heat pumps: you get efficient heat plus air conditioning for the increasingly hot summers, and utility rebates plus federal tax credits can offset a meaningful share of the installed cost (systems from $6,500). If your furnace is under 10 years old and healthy, we'll tell you to keep it.

Do I need a permit to install an EV charger at home in Washington?

Yes — a Level 2 charger runs on a dedicated 240V circuit, and Washington requires an electrical permit and inspection for that work. We pull the permit, run the circuit, mount the charger and schedule the inspection as part of the job (from $899). If your panel is close to capacity, we'll assess whether a load-management device can avoid a full panel upgrade.

My breaker keeps tripping when the heat comes on — is that dangerous?

Treat it as a warning, not a quirk. A breaker that trips when the furnace or heat pump starts usually points to a failing motor drawing excess current, a loose connection, or an undersized or aging breaker — all of which can overheat wiring. Stop resetting it repeatedly and call us at (206) 427-8907; because we're both HVAC techs and licensed electricians, one visit covers both sides of the problem.
